CUTTING BOARD
Benefits of a Wood Cutting Board
I’ve always preferred the feel of working on a wooden cutting board (My dream one is one made from end grains like this one from John Boos). They are heavy, don’t slip around and I love the sounds of the knife cutting on it; They’re also gentle on knives.
Contrary to popular belief, they are easy to clean. Just don’t put them in the dishwasher!
How to Clean a Wood Cutting Board
You can sanitize it with a bleach or vinegar solution or give it a salt and lemon rub. But all that’s really needed is hot soapy water and a stiff brush. Remember to dry it fully.
Oil it with a food-grade mineral oil (like this one- we just get a ) every once in a while and you’re good to go.
I keep a separate cutting board for raw meats.
